Small Batch Works is my one-person studio in Melville, Saskatchewan. I help solo owners and very small local businesses around Melville and Yorkton start with a simple tool built around how they already work — the kind that currently run on a Google Form, a spreadsheet that's grown wild, or a big platform they only use a fraction of.

Why I do this

I've worked in the web design and development industry for about twenty years, the last several of them at a marketing agency. Now I'm bringing all of that together with new tools to do something I enjoy more: not building anything big, just taking away small, everyday annoyances.

It started with scrolling through Facebook. Again and again I'd see people stuck with something awkward, or still doing a task the old way because nobody had shown them a simpler one. I wanted to be the person who shows them an easier way.

I live in a small town, and I see little processes everywhere around me: a sign-up sheet, a booking list, a spreadsheet someone updates by hand. Most of them don't need a big platform. They need one small thing to work a bit more easily. That's the work I want to do, for the people around me.

What I actually do

I don't sell a ready-made product. I look at how you already work, find the one piece that's missing, and build that — fitted around your process instead of asking you to change it. Sometimes that's a page that sorts your bookings by day. Sometimes it's turning the customer or product list you keep in Excel into a dashboard you can actually manage from, along with a simple routine for keeping it up to date.

I keep the first version small, with a one-time build fee and no monthly subscription for my work. If a project needs hosting or other paid services, I'll tell you before we start. And if an established platform would suit you better, I'll say so.

Why "small batch"

Because each build is made for one business, in a small batch of one. It's also why I stay reachable after it's set up: if your business changes, the tool can change with it.

How I work

Five steps — empathize, define, ideate, prototype and test, implement. I use AI tools to move faster through drafts and setup, and I design, review and set up every piece myself. Here's what each step looks like.

Based in Melville, serving Melville, Yorkton and the surrounding area.

How I build it

  1. Empathize

I learn how you actually work, today.

  2. Define

We name the one piece that's missing.

  3. Ideate

I explore options fast, you pick the fit.

  4. Prototype & test

I build a working draft quickly, often starting from a tool in What Could Work, and we test it together.

  5. Implement

I build it, set it up, and stay reachable.
